Effective 11 October 2026

Setlist stores your training on your iPhone. There is no Setlist account, no Setlist server, no advertising and no tracking. We do not collect, sell or share your personal data.

Data on your device

Setlist saves the following in its own storage on your iPhone: workouts, sets and notes, routines, gyms and their equipment, body weight entries, your profile name and photo, and your settings. This data is not sent to us. If you use iPhone or iCloud backups, Apple can include this data in those backups according to your device settings.

Location

Location access is optional. Setlist uses it only when you add a location to a gym, to remind you to start a workout when you arrive there. The gym location is stored on your device, and iOS checks your arrival. Setlist does not record where you go. Searching for a place uses Apple Maps.

Apple Health

Connecting Apple Health is optional. With your permission, Setlist reads workout recordings, heart rate, active energy and supported distances to link your Apple Watch workouts to finished Setlist training and show fitness statistics. Setlist does not write to Apple Health.

Health measurements, such as heart rate, active energy and distance, stay in memory and are read again from Apple Health when needed. They are never saved by Setlist, and they are not included in backups, CSV exports, shared summary images or AI requests.

For each link, Setlist saves only the identifier of the Apple Health workout, its start time and its activity type, such as strength training or cycling. These links are stored on your iPhone and can be included in your iPhone or iCloud backups. When you back up to a folder, Setlist also saves them there, so a restore can relink your workouts. On a new iPhone, Setlist uses the start time and activity type to find the same recording again.

You can change read permissions in Apple Health. Disconnecting Apple Health in Setlist removes all local links and cached measurements, but keeps your Setlist training and Apple Health recordings. It does not revoke permissions in Apple Health.

Notifications and Live Activities

Rest timer alerts and gym reminders are local notifications that your iPhone schedules itself. During a workout, a Live Activity shows your current set and rest time on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Setlist does not use remote push notifications.

Exports, backups and sharing

You can export workouts as a CSV file, export routines, create automatic backups and share a workout summary image. These actions only happen when you start them, and the files go to the location or app that you choose, such as iCloud Drive. The service you choose then handles that data under its own terms.

Exercise videos

Some exercise guides link to a video on YouTube. When you open such a link, the video opens in the YouTube app or your browser, and YouTube's privacy policy applies.

Optional AI features

Setlist includes optional AI features that are off by default. If you turn them on, Setlist sends your typed request to the configured AI service, together with only the information needed for the answer:

  • To create a routine: the exercises and equipment available at the gym you choose.
  • For training insights: a summary of the last eight weeks, such as workout and set counts, exercise names and estimated strength changes.

Setlist does not send your name, photo, location, body weight entries or full workout log. Your API key is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device.

Analytics and third parties

Setlist contains no analytics, advertising or crash reporting services, and no third-party code that collects data.

Children

Setlist is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.

Your rights

Because your data stays on your device, you control it directly. You can edit or delete workouts in the app, or delete the app to remove all of its data. If you have a question about your data or this policy, email us.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update it on this page and change the effective date above.
